Add engineering capacity

More work than people, but not enough certainty to justify permanent hires yet.

The gap between too much work and a headcount request

Hiring a senior engineer in South Africa takes months from approved requisition to productive contribution, and the cost is committed long before you know whether the demand was permanent. Meanwhile the work does not wait.

The usual fallback is to push the existing team harder, which works for about a quarter and then shows up as attrition and quality problems.

What you get

The deliverables, specifically.

Capacity that starts in weeks, not quarters

A scoped engagement can begin quickly, because there is no requisition, no notice period and no onboarding overhead beyond learning your systems.

Senior by default

You get architecture-level judgement rather than a pair of hands who need direction. That matters most when the work is ambiguous.

Sized to the actual need

A defined project, a block of days per month, or an overflow arrangement. Reviewed quarterly and scalable in either direction.

It ends cleanly

Documented, tested, deployable by your own team. The point is not to make you dependent on us.

How it runs

From first call to handover.

01

Understand the backlog

What is actually queued, what is urgent, and what is urgent only because it has been deferred.

02

Agree the shape

Project, retained days, or overflow. Scope and rate in writing before anything starts.

03

Deliver in visible increments

Working software you can see and react to, not a status report.

04

Review and adjust

Quarterly: scale up, scale down, or end it.

Is this the right piece of work?

A good fit when

  • You need senior engineering now and hiring will take a quarter or more
  • The demand may be temporary and you do not want to commit headcount
  • You have developers but no one to make the architectural calls

We will say no when

  • You need someone permanent and on site. Hire, and we will help you interview.
  • You want the cheapest possible hands. We are not that, and we will tell you so early.

Terms are agreed in writing per engagement. Samloryx currently supports a client on a call-out basis under exactly this kind of arrangement.

Other problems we solve

Ship software faster

When releases take weeks and nobody is sure why, the problem is usually the process around the code rather than the people writing it.

See what is actually happening

Decisions made on assembled spreadsheets are decisions made on last month's data.

Build for POPIA from the start

Retrofitting data protection into a working system costs several times what designing for it would have.

Not sure this is the right starting point?

A short call costs nothing and usually makes the answer obvious. If a different piece of work suits you better, we will say so.
